Our goal is to help you achieve resilient recovery from mental health issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, grief & loss, relationship issues, personality disorders, and more. What is resilient recovery? We believe it is recovery that heals and strengthens in a way that allows you to withstand future difficulties with empowering tools and strategies. This is not a "treatment program" we are a group practice of clinicians who specialize in helping individuals recover one-on-one from mental health issues. With O'Brien and Associates, you will have an interdisciplinary team of mental health professionals to help you resolve any issue which you may be struggling with.
We help our clients achieve resilient recovery utilizing the latest technology and evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and others. We are one of the first practices in the nation to deploy the evidence-based Addiction Recovery Management System (ARMS) technology to our substance use clients. We exclusively provide our services via secure video-counseling and telephone sessions so that anyone in any state we provide services in can access the help they need. Our experience with telehealth has shown us that it can be as or more effective than in-person services. There is a growing body of research that supports our experience.
Assessment & Evaluations
Every journey in mental health recovery at O'Brien & Associates begins with a thorough initial assessment. It's hard to know which direction to head if you don't know the severity of your situation or what you are suffering from. That's why we conduct a complete assessment with every new client. The evaluation results in a treatment plan, which maps out the path we agree upon that will best meet your needs.

It's difficult for the average person to make sense of it and plot a successful course forward. We have consulted with hundreds of individuals seeking help, their loved ones, and even their friends and helped them evaluate their options, make tough decisions, and save money. We can provide you with a free, no-pressure, 30-minute phone consultation to help you explore your options and determine if our services or someone else's are a better fit. For more complex situations, we can provide consultation services on an hourly basis. We'll remove the guesswork, educate you, and help you feel confident about your decisions. We also provide clinical consultations to other mental and medical health professionals and organizations.
Individual Therapy is also known as psychotherapy, talk therapy, or counseling—is a collaborative process between therapist and client that aims to facilitate change and improve quality of life. Therapy can help people confront barriers that interfere with emotional and mental well-being, and it can also increase positive feelings such as compassion, self-esteem, love, courage, and peace. Many people find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware, and they may pursue ongoing psychotherapy as a means of self-growth and self-actualization. We provide a nonjudgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, we will help you develop both insight and tools to more effectively navigate your life. Our therapists utilize the evidence-based therapies above to ensure you receive the best possible results.
We don't require our clients to participate in group therapy but they often choose to in order to heal faster and gain more insight. Group therapy is highly effective as participants get support from peers who are going through similar issues as well as feedback from the clinician facilitating the group. Therapy groups typically focus on a specific topic and occur on a standing time and day. If your clinician feels you would benefit from a particular group they will discuss the benefits with you so that you can decide if you'd like to participate.
Family therapy can reduce conflict and distress and improve the quality of interactions among family members. We will help you identify the causes of conflict and will teach you new ways of coping in order to increase mutual respect and appreciation for one another.
We support couples working through a variety of issues and can help you to recognize and resolve conflicts and repair your relationship. During couples therapy, we will help you to build skills to communicate more effectively, cultivate intimacy, and change problematic patterns so that you can enjoy a more satisfying relationship.
